Your JW / ex-JW Experiences Needed - PLEASE!
by 2escaped lifers infor a new book project..... my wife and i are putting together a book project that will describe in detail the actual practical effects of wtbts beliefs and doctrines on the daily lives of average jw's.
there are currently books out there that describe the operation of the organization at the top levels (e.g.
crisis of conscience), books that take issue with jw doctrine and/or false predictions, and books about cults in general that mention jw's among other cultish organizations.

for a new book project....
But so far, we have not found anything that would describe to the rest of the world what it is really like to be a Witness, what they go through, feel, how they treat one another, treat others, etc.
Being a published author already (various articles for technical journals and co-author of a book on 3D Graphics), I have decided to put together a book that will show the world just how dangerous and damaging the mind control tactics of the WTBTS are.
I have read with interest, sincere sympathy, and many tears, your experiences over the past several months on this discussion board. Many of you have been subjected to horrific treatment in the name of the almighty WTBTS and its perverted doctrines, often at the hands of dearly loved ones. While there may be hundreds, and even thousands, of individuals who post or lurk on this board, most of us are ex-JW's. I believe our experiences should be documented and more widely distributed - so that those who are "studying" with the Witnesses, those JW's who have doubts and are considering leaving, and those who have friends or family members who are JW's, will have the opportunity to understand how the WTBTS teachings manipulate every aspect of JW's lives.
Therefore, I respectfully request that you to consider letting me use your experience in my book. I want the writing to be as real and as personal as possible, so I ask that you consider including in your experiences not only your name, but the name of the congregation and the names of those significantly involved. I understand this will require some courage on your part, and that some of you will not feel comfortable with this, and that is fine. If you don't feel comfortable being specific at this time, I won't use your experience. We will be using consent forms to verify your permission to quote from your experiences, so don't worry that I will be using anything in the book that was openly posted on this site or in your responses to me.
Please seriously consider conributing to this work, as your experience may just help someone else break free or avoid the pain, anguish, and betrayal we have all gone through.
Please PM me or email me at [email protected] if you are interested in contributing or know someone whose experience should be included. Thanks in advance for your kind assistance in this.
Best regards to all here on the forum,
Brandon and Stephanie Bartlett

We plan on taking ours on our next camping trip with the boys. It's cheaper than buying ricks of firewood for $3 a piece. Don't know what to do with the videos and Kingdom Melodies CDs though. They don't burn as well.

Tribute to the Troops (USA)
by Uzzah inthe following is a link to a slideshow prepared as a tribute to the military men and women protecting their country.
yes it is focused on the us military.
this is not about iraq or whether or not you like the usa.

You who have never lived in a different country would not understand how it looks to those of us who are looking in.
Ok, so enlighten me (and I'm not being sarcastic), how do we look to those of you "looking in"?

Also, we who live in countries outside of America and Canada can spot nationalistic propaganda more readily. We're not exposed to it as much, so whilst an American might see it as "supporting the troops", it comes across to us as "yet another piece of American propaganda".
So you *don't* believe in supporting those troops? Those men and women who have left families, jobs, and friends behind to risk their lives to protect others? And remember, its not just US troops. It's UK, several european countries, and if the UN gets involved more than likely there will be Australians there as well.
Could you explain more about what you mean by "American propaganda"?
regards,
Brandon

How long do you think being a JW will affect you?
by Adam ini haven't been on this board for a while.
i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.
i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.

Unfortunately, I think it will haunt us all to a degree forever. We're newly out but both born into it. Take it slowly, and don't expect to heal the wounds immediately. This is not like a bandaid. No matter how quickly or slowly you pull it off, it will always hurt . Just live. Now that you can.
Stephanie
P.S. Congrats on your exit, and welcome. You'll find alot of sympathy here.

Okay...who are the "girly girls" here
by berylblue ini admit to it (as i'm spraying on my chanel christalle and putting on my make up.
spent last night tearing through vogue; my mani/pedi appointment is tonight.....).
no, "admit to it" isn't the correct sentiment.

Yes, I am the female of the two (there has been some confusion in recent chats on line with some of you and Brandon). He was mistaken for me. I don't know if you'd call me girly or not. I was a tom-boy and up in a tree or in the dirt, sometimes in that order when gravity became an issue, until I was 15. I developed all girly "attributes" early, though. I was offered a modeling job at 17.But of course this was nixed before the offer was completely out of their mouth, by my parents, because we're not supposed to flaunt looks....etc. I always hated the girly stuff my sister and her friends did though. They loved to shop, hunt for men, and get into heated discussions as to which new nail polish complimented their newest "dub" outfit for the meetings. Most of the guys they were trying to trap were my friends and I enjoyed their discussions on how in love the guys were with them. They didn't have a clue.
As for now, though, I almost always wear make-up, but not that you could scrape off with a spoon. Clothes range from nice pants or skirt and a blouse with fixed hair, to jeans (my favorite) , a tee shirt (usually baggy), and a baseball cap. Of course I do have two sons and I learned early on that to be prepared for anything ...and you do have to be... I needed to be comfy and in clothes that could withstand anything .....With make-up and earrings on.

I've heard all about you!
by SM62 ini have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.
i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.
it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.

by CETME inhey guys, thought i'd introduce myself...... my name is lars, and i'm 22... i'm majoring in education here in florida........ i was brought up as a jw, but i never really got into it... because the political side was so corrupt.... right now i'm just trying my best to be a good person, for myself and for god..... .
i'm a little rough around the edges... i shoot guns, race cars, ride bmx..... etc... so i guess my lifestyle didnt suit the jw's as well...... .
